2 dogs rescued from burning Sunrise home
Tuesday, July 17th, 2007SUNRISE — Two large, mixed-breed dogs were rescued Tuesday from a burning house that sustained about $25,000 in damage, authorities said.
Sunrise Fire Division Chief Tom O’Connell said the owners were not home at the time.
The blaze, reported at 8:40 a.m., started in the living room of a home in the 7400 block of NW 23rd Street. It sent dense, black smoke throughout the building, O’Connell said.
Firefighters found one dog unconscious in the living room and another passed out in the family room.
O’Connell said firefighters revived both animals outside after giving them oxygen.
One dog suffered some minor burns.
The dogs were turned over to Broward County Animal Control for treatment until their owners arrived, O’Connell said.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
